When Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore decided to separate last year, many were shocked. According to reports, the couple had some troubles and one of them was reportedly involved in an extramarital affair. Many people in Connecticut were aware of the split, wondering how the divorce would affect the images of both celebrities. While some pondered this, others were curious about the how the division of property would affect the finances of Moore and Kutcher.

During the initial separation, Moore stated that she wanted to end the marriage. Even though these words were reportedly said, she never filed for divorce. Many have speculated that property division was an issue that had yet to be fully addressed. That was until Kutcher’s recent filing, just days before Christmas, he signed divorce papers and submitted them.

Reports indicate that the couple has been sparring over finances and that the divorce paperwork does not indicate whether they filed a prenuptial agreement. Many financial questions could have been answered by a prenup, had they chosen to file one. Wealthy individuals often choose to file a prenup when getting married to protect their assets and their personal worth-others also file the document in order to make divorce more predictable, if it does come.

The couple was married in September 2005, meaning that they have been legally together for more than seven years. This will be Moore’s second divorce. Currently, rumors have suggested that Kutcher and former co-star Mila Kunis are in a relationship.

Over the past year, Kutcher has been solidifying his return to television on a hit show. He has made millions of dollars through his new role, which may be a hot topic for the couple if they are discussing property division. Meanwhile, reports have indicated that Moore is struggling to deal with another failed marriage.
