If you’re divorcing and moving out of your marital home, you’re no doubt going through a tumultuous time – and you’re probably not thinking about getting your paperwork in order. You should, however, grab or make copies of some household documents before you move out. Taking this simple step now can save you time, expenses, and upset down the road.

A Connecticut divorce demands seemingly endless documentation, and much of it may be in your home. If you copy the documents before you move out, you’re more likely to have unfettered access to the items that you need. If you wait until after you’ve moved out and your divorce potentially heats up, you might have to endure the added expense and time of involving your attorney.
